How Reach Agency helped The Raptors Republic Utilize Social Media to Build its Digital Fanbase

 The Backstory and Problem

Founded in 2008, Raptors Republic is the most popular independent fan blog of the Toronto Raptors and go-to-source for basketball die-hard fans who craved in-depth reporting on the their favourite team. Although they had an incredible audience visiting their website everyday (1.8m views/month), they lacked a community on social media that reflected their strong presence. Seeing their missed opportunity to engage and deeper relationships with their audience, they knew they needed to implement a strategy to engage with their audience on social.

Reach Agency has an incredible track record of helping businesses build a strong presence and devoted community of brand advocates on social media. Although Raptors Republic owns the largest Toronto Raptors fan blog, their presence on social media, specifically Instagram, had lagged greatly behind other lesser known Raptors fan social media channels. Collaborating with Reach Agency enabled Raptors Republic to approach the start of the 2018-19 NBA season with a clear strategy on utilizing all of digital to drive awareness and revenue.

Reach Agency spearheaded a clear go-to-market strategy pertaining to social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, something Raptors Republic had lacked since its inception. This included establishing a brand tone, visual identity, suggested storytelling, and guiding the social media narrative. Taking into account the amount of distributed content needed to appease the Raptor Republic’s fanbase, Reach Agency also developed RR’s technology stack to accommodate consistent and constant deployment of content to fuel growth across all digital.

The Future

The 2018-19 season has been a magical season for Raptors fans so it only makes sense for the Raptors Republic and Reach Agency to continue its partnership in providing in-depth analysis of the Toronto Raptors basketball team.

Reach Agency has been a revelation for us. We were always excellent at writing and tweeting, but Instagram and Facebook were sadly mere afterthoughts. Reach helped us build out our brand story and align our visual identity to it. He guided us to establish our values and mission, then developed a content strategy to target our ideal audience and build engagement across Instagram and Facebook.
